Play Greeting   Session Schedule

Goals:  1. Provide uniform training to ensure interoperability, accuracy and efficiency.

             2. Offer training opportunities from the comfort of our own homes, without costly travel.

Students & Instructors: Some training events will be designed for all ARES members. Others will be created specifically for sub-groups, such as NCS ops, RRTs, RED Team, State EOC Team, or leadership positions. However, everyone is welcome to participate in any session. Instructors may vary with the subject.

Mode: Echolink conference – On-line only (no radio links, please!) with visuals posted to the NHARES training website. Session-specific URLs will be provided at the start of each session.

Schedule: 2nd Tuesday of each month 7:30pm. The lesson will be repeated on Wednesday to accommodate those who could not participate on Tuesday, or just want to do it again. Most sessions will be designed to last no more than ½ hour. Topics will be announced in advance on the NH-ARES and NHARES-Staff email reflectors.

Previous Sessions: If you miss a live session and wish to listen to a recording, go to the Schedule page and click on the session listing. A link to any visual materials used is also available.

EchoLink Procedures

· If you haven’t already done so, register your call sign with EchoLink and test your setup. Approval can take up to several days, so don’t wait until the last minute.

· We will be using a little-used World Scouting conference node, JOTA-E which can accommodate up to 33 users per session. If we start filling up, we’ll need to look for an alternative conference node. If you find it full on a Tuesday, try again Wednesday.

· Turn off VOX and disable local conferencing before connecting to the node. (You really don’t even need a microphone for these sessions.)

· Connect to the node at least five minutes prior to the scheduled session.

· If you have a question for the instructor, use the text message utility at the bottom right hand portion of the screen. The instructor will read the question to the rest of the group, and then answer it. The instructor may opt to answer the question directly, or give you the “floor” to elaborate or to allow the entire group to hear. (This is the only time you might need a microphone.)

Training Visuals

Visual material will be uploaded to the NHARES website in advance. Click on the appropriate session on the Schedule page to view the session materials. The link will also be provided in the session announcement and via the EchoLink text window. Visuals will either be web pages, or downloadable documents.
